Rockland Broad lies just north of the village of Rockland St. Mary and is completely surrounded by marshland and tall reed beds. The Broad can be accessed from the River Yare by Short Dyke and The Fleet Dyke.
The village of Rockland St. Mary can be reached via the Staithe opposite 'The New Inn'. A footpath also leads from the Staithe to an RSPB Bird hide which overlooks the Broad and adjacent Rockland Marshes. In the western part of the Broad known as 'The Slaughters' lay the wrecks of two Wherries.
There is good pike fishing here and in 1912 a thirty one and a half pounder was landed. It is also a good spot bream, roach, tench and perch.
Electric points are installed at the staithe but there is no fresh water.
The New Inn has a pleasant garden and a childrens play area.
